Awards & Recognition

Awards are not the goal, but they confirm the hammer is guided right. Here is what the documents back up. The rest our work should say for itself.

Zlati ceh

Zlati ceh, the fair's highest award

The commission's statement

The awards commission gave Bruno Kalčič the highest fair award for a segment of forged fence in which the artistic idea and the craft of making are woven into each other. The unique, hand forged fence, made to a drawing by the academic designer Klemen Brun and produced in the forge of Bruno Kalčič, has a look of its own. It also reflects the exceptional mastery that making it requires.

Statement of the OZS awards commission. Published in the chamber magazine Obrtnik, 10/2011, article Three guilds and two awards by Eva Mihelič.

That year the chamber handed out only one gold, one silver and one bronze guild award for the first time. The commission chose from 36 pieces entered by exhibitors at the fair. The gold one came to Blejska Dobrava.

The award was handed over by Štefan Pavlinjek, president of the chamber. The commission was Vlado Mandič, Herman Remic, Franc Kremžar, Edvard Šinkovec, Marko Godec, Miran Gracer and Anton Dremelj. Silver went to Radovan Gregorčič (Eletraart, Sežana), bronze to Janez Tišler (Niros, Cankova).

The awarded fence was forged to a drawing by the academic designer Klemen Brun. The drawing was his, the forging ours. We still work that way. You bring the drawing, we make it in iron.
