A forge beneath the Julian Alps

Our story

A forge beneath the Julian Alps

In Blejska Dobrava, between Lake Bled and Jesenice, our family has been forging iron since 1989. What Bruno Kalčič began, we carry on today with the same fire, the same anvil, and the same conviction: forged work should be beautiful, solid, and honestly made.

Frequently asked

What people ask us most

How much does a wrought iron fence cost?
Hand-forged fences start at roughly €350 per running metre, depending on height, motif and finish. Every fence is made to measure, so we prepare an exact quote from your dimensions and wishes. Free and with no obligation.
Where are you based and where do you deliver?
Our forge is in Blejska Dobrava in northern Slovenia, between Lake Bled and Jesenice. About 40 minutes from the Austrian and Italian borders. We deliver and install across Slovenia and take commissions from Austria, Germany, Italy and the rest of Europe.
Can you make a piece from my drawing or photo?
Yes. Most of our work starts exactly like that. Send us a sketch, a photo or just a description of your idea and we'll propose a design and a quote. The piece is adapted to your measurements and the style of your house.
How is the ironwork protected against rust?
Outdoor pieces are typically hot-dip galvanised and then powder-coated. A combination that lasts for decades without maintenance, even in alpine weather. For interior pieces, a classic waxed blacksmith's patina is also available.
How long does a commission take?
It depends on scope. Smaller pieces are ready in a few weeks, larger projects (fences, gates, staircases) follow an agreed schedule. We confirm the exact timeline with the quote, and we keep it.

Custom & bespoke

Have something in mind?

Fences, gates, staircases, lighting, gifts. If it can be forged, we can make it. Most of our work is bespoke, made for a specific house and a specific person.
